Hello again, families!  Welcome to the first blog post of the first ever Discoverers Camp on the first full day.  Normally, we go straight from Explorers to Navigators, but we’ve thrown a curve ball and added this extra week. And let me tell you what, it has been a great one so far!

After supper yesterday, we did some cabin intros and acted out our favorite camp activities, followed by some name games and a game of Turkey Tumble.  Have you ever tried to grab your ankles and walk around bumping people?  If not, you should try it.

After that, we had our first worship session with our Bible teacher, Jayne Byler.  Jane helped us realize that even if we’re new to camp (like her) we still have a lot in common with the people around us.  And this morning, Jayne took us on a quiet walk across camp to experience God’s beauty and find rocks to help us remember to build our house upon the rock!

We also gave the campers a chance to try to put all the staff in age order, and they miserably failed.  But it was fun!  Today is a beautiful and dry (crossed fingers) day, so we’ve been playing in the pool (even at 7:15 am!), hiking, playing Gaga Ball, mini golf, and having fun in the creek.  We’re looking forward to a pool party this evening and everyone’s favorite treat, Banana Boats.  Check back here for more updates later this week, and if you know someone who’d like to join us for one of our next three weeks of summer camp, there’s still time to sign up!  Click here to learn more.
