Many of us lead really busy lives. Things can pile up and we can forget to take time off to relax and return our focus to what really matters in life. Our families, friends, and even our relationship with God can take a back seat at times when we get lost in our daily comings and goings. Here at Laurelville we offer an opportunity to get away and relax so that you can go back home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Here are 5 Benefits to a Weekend Retreat:
1: Unplugging From Your Routine
This may be easy for some of us but difficult for others. Getting away from work, television, and even your cell phone can bring some surprising relaxation and peace. Traveling away makes time off easier because everything that needs to be done will be waiting at home for when you return.
2: Catching Up with Friends and Family is Socially Satisfying
When you retreat with friends and family it gives you quality time to relax and to catch up with one another. We can text and post on Facebook but the best communication out there is talking to one another in person. When you are on retreat you are at a place designed for interaction. Laurelville has rocking chairs and porch swings everywhere you look! When friends and family come together for a retreat few things can be more satisfying.
3: Connecting to Nature
Getting out and enjoying God’s creation is a wonderful way to relax. Nature can bring an inner peace with its beauty being all around us. Laurelville has a variety of hiking trails that provide great exercise along with fresh air and wonderful views. Sunset Hill is a popular spot at the end of our “blue” trail:
4: Focus on You
Taking time for you can be important. We can neglect ourselves in favor of others on a daily basis. But going on a retreat can remind us that we have to take care of ourselves as well. Relaxation, great food, and good company can refresh anyone.
5: Have Some Fun!
Yes! We all need to have some fun now and then! Christian Retreat Centers like Laurelville offer everything under the sun when it comes to outdoor fun. We have a pool, gymnasium, mini golf course, outdoor/indoor volleyball and basketball, hiking trails, and so much more! If you are more of an indoors person bring along a board game or just a good book. If you have a group there are plenty of opportunities for games on our grounds and the possibilities are endless. It can create memories for a lifetime.
