As the year draws to an end, we celebrate…
We celebrate our history and our 75th milestone. What fun to have over 200 Laurelville friends gather for a weekend of reflection, fellowship, and play! We celebrate our founding roots when God’s promptings led a small group of people to set-aside this special place back in 1943.
We celebrate God using Laurelville as a place of healing in today’s broken world. Nar Anon Support, a group for families whose loved ones are battling with drug addiction, broke off from a larger convention to retreat at Laurelville. They found a place free from distractions unlike past large, secular venues and experienced intimacy to share and heal as they shook off the world’s stigmas in being family members of those wrestling with drug addiction. They found “true peace, walking the Labyrinth, sitting on rockers, sharing delicious meals, eating s’mores and singing all the silly campfire songs we could remember. We found peace that brings about courage to continue the journey of supporting our loved ones.”
We celebrate the progress on our 75th Capital Pool and Welcome Center Project. Over $730,000 has been raised! Permits are underway and the red tape is cut through. Engineers are into the final drawings. Demolitions of the bathhouse and kiln relocation are underway. We are on schedule for March installs.
We celebrate our growing connections with the community. Township and government officials, Jacob’s Creek Watershed friends, Community Living and Intermediate Unit, United Way, day campers, swimmers… growing relationships make for growing opportunities.
We celebrate as God continues using Laurelville for wondrous work. Planting seeds in hearts, making disciples, who in turn make disciples, and so on… As we celebrate our 75th year, imagine the MAGNITUDE of impact the ripple effect Laurelville has had around the world for God’s purposes! A magnitude of impact that gives me goose bumps.
We celebrate YOU! And the other thousands of members, staff, donors, volunteers, board members, guests, community members, and other countless partners who have invested in making Laurelville what it is today. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! May God bless you.
