Private Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Lessons Tuesdays in July 2021

​Stand Up Paddleboard Lessons on Tuesday mornings each week beginning June 8. Cost is $15 per person for up to two people per 1/2 hour private lesson. Taught by YMCA Program Director Erica Davis with equipment from the YMCA of Laurel Highlands. Learn to safely mount, paddle, re-board, and maneuver a SUP in Laurelville’s safe, crystal clear pool and become comfortable with the sport before tackling a local lake on your own! Register HERE and choose a date and preferred time (between 9 am and noon). Erica will confirm specific time slots with participants. Life vests and SUP will be provided to each participant. The minimum age is 8 and those under 18 must have a guardian present. Pool depth is 0-4 feet. SUP Private Lessons benefit YMCA and Laurelville programs. The YMCA also offers  stand up paddle board sessions at Greenlick Run Lake on select days. Cost is $15 for YMCA Members and $20 for non-members, with equipment provided. SUP lessons at Laurelville and sessions at Greenlick are both open to the public.

 

 

Lunch and Learn: Favorite Perennials July 24

Ann Talarek, horticulturist at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, will discuss her favorite easy, native perennials in detail at this Lunch and Learn on Saturday, July 24 at noon in the Small Dining Hall. After lunch, the event continues outside to examine Laurelville’s native pollinator gardens on grounds, which Mrs. Talarek helped design and install. Guests must pre-register by July 21 and space is limited to 55 guests. Cost is $15 per person.

Monthly Sunset Yoga Classes Aug 13, Sept. 10

Sunset Yoga – Friday, Aug13, 7 p.m. $15 (plus every second Friday thru September, possibly October!), please pre-register at the link below.
Join us for a relaxing sunset yoga class in this beautiful, unique outdoor setting high atop the county. These one-hour classes will be led by Find Your Fire Fitness Instructor, Robin Albright. Classes will be specifically sequenced for all-levels, beginners to seasoned practitioners. Class will conclude with a soothing guided meditation. Enjoy the scenic view and meditation in the labyrinth prior to yoga class.

Please bring your own mat.
Either drive up and park right atop sunset Hill or park on grounds at the Solarhouse and walk the 12-ish minutes for an extra cardio warm up before class. In case of rain, we’ll move to our two-story gymnasium where three walls open to transform the trees into our walls. Co-sponsored by Find Your Fire Fitness in Mt. Pleasant. Pirates baseball game bus trip Thurs, Sept 16, 2021
Take a bus to see the Buccos! Let us do the driving for you. A collaboration between Laurelville Retreat Center and the YMCA of Laurel Highlands. Leave at 9:30 am from the YMCA of Laurel Highlands for the 12:35pm game against Cincinnati Reds. If you plan to tailgate with the group before the game, bring a covered dish! If not, there are local restaurants and your ticket includes $10 food certificate. Cost is $60 for YMCA members and $70 for non-members.  To buy tickets, call the YMCA at 724-542-9622 or stop by the YMCA offices.

Bus trip to Sight & Sound's "Esther" Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021

Wed, Nov. 3, fundraiser bus trip to see “Queen Esther” at Sight and Sound in Lancaster, Pa. We depart from Laurelville’s Welcome Center parking lot at 7:15am, stopping on the way out and on the way home. We’ll enjoy a family-style lunch at Hershey Farms before the show. Price will be $165. Call Mary at Laurelville to pay before Oct. 3, 724-423-2056. Seating is limited to 50 people.
